God’s Church shares one mission, but what’s the best way to go about it?
Where should we invest resources – in reaching people overseas or next door?
There’s a tension between the “local” and “global” aspects of this Great Co-Mission.

Can we begin to see the blessing God intends in this “tension” for spurring one another on?
Without an all-encompassing mission the Church lacks motivation, yet a global mission is only realized through local expression.

As we pray for the “local church” to carry a global vision and mission and for the “global church” to
influence and encourage local outreach and discipleship, we are beginning to pursue a vision for
“Global Impact” within the Brethren in Christ. We sense God’s leading in strengthening each
congregation to participate and partner in God’s mission in their own unique way.

At it’s core, the Global Impact concept is simply to build a strong “network,” by region,
across our congregations to offer support, training and resources for our shared “glocal” mission.

As we pray and explore, we’d love to hear your thoughts. Check out some of the draft materials
that have been prepared (see sidebar links). Post your comments here, or Email Chris Sharp at bicgit@gmail.com.
Chris, who is joining the BIC World Missions staff in June, is heading up the pilot initiative of Global Impact in Atlantic Conference.
